Born in St Albans in 1943, Michael Morpurgo is one of the UK’s most successful children’s authors. After a period working as a teacher, he published his first collection of stories in 1974, and has gone on to publish dozens of novels, stories, and poetry collections. He served as Children’s Laureate from 2003-2005. He is married with three children.
