Quick fixes for your Voxblock

Most things are fixed with one or two button presses. Pick what you can see on your player.

Play button: no light

Switched off

The player switches itself off a few minutes after a story stops, to save the battery.

Switch it on

  1. Press the play button. It glows blue.
  2. Glows pink for a few seconds, then goes dark? It’s in travel mode: hold − and + together.
  3. No light at all? Charge it with the USB-C cable and a wall plug.

Blue: it’s on and ready. Place a book and press play.

The story is playing

All is well. If you can’t hear anything, it’s usually the volume or the headphones.

Can’t hear it?

  1. Press the + button a few times to turn it up.
  2. Check nothing is plugged into the headphone socket: with headphones in, the sound goes to them.

Nothing to do.

Battery light: off

Nothing to worry about

The battery light shows for about 10 seconds after you switch the player on, then goes off to save power. It stays on only when the battery is low or the player is charging.

There’s enough battery to keep listening. A full charge gives up to 16 hours.

Seeing a colour that isn't listed?

If the play button glows white, or changes colour and buzzes each time you press a button, the player is in a checking mode we use in our workshop. Nothing is wrong and nothing is harmed. Hold the play button until the player switches off and keep holding for about 30 seconds. Let go, wait 10 seconds, then switch it on again as normal.

Still stuck? Reset the player

Only if nothing else has worked. A reset clears the places saved on the player, so every book starts again from the beginning. Your books and their stories aren't affected.

  1. Press and hold the play button.
  2. After a few seconds the light goes off. Don't let go. Letting go here only switches it off.
  3. Keep holding for 30 seconds in total, then let go.
  4. Wait 10 seconds before switching it back on, so it starts first time.
  5. Press play to switch it on. The button glows blue when it's ready.

Back to the player without a switch

Our first players

These players have an on/off switch on the back. Most problems come down to the switch, the charge or a dusty connector.

It won’t turn on

  1. Flip the switch on the back down.
  2. Place a book or press play to wake it.
  3. Still nothing? Charge it overnight from a wall plug.

A book won’t play

  1. Lift the book off.
  2. Wipe the connector on the book and the player with a dry cloth.
  3. Put it back and press play.

It won’t charge

  1. Use a USB wall plug, not a laptop, car charger or USB hub.
  2. Try another USB-C cable.
  3. Leave it plugged in overnight.

To switch it off

Flip the switch on the back up. It also goes to sleep by itself when no story is playing.
