Wigglesbottom Primary Vol. 2

Class 2R at Wigglesbottom Primary School is having rather an unusual term. Their days are punctuated by mysteries that range from the bewildering to the downright chaotic, each one demanding quick thinking and creative problem-solving from pupils who are already discovering that primary school life seldom goes quite according to plan.

A caped canine cuts an unlikely figure bounding across rooftops and interfering in their ordinary school day, leaving everyone wondering whether they have genuinely witnessed a superhero or simply lost their minds entirely. The appearance of this mysterious dog raises questions that refuse to stay neatly answered, adding an extra layer of intrigue to what ought to be an unremarkable Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, the school lunch table has become a source of deep suspicion, as the mashed potato served on their trays takes on a decidedly questionable character. Is it actually what the dinner ladies claim it to be?

Things grow still stranger when Susie Keys produces an alien egg during lessons, as one does, and the classroom cat begins exhibiting behaviour that suggests it is desperately trying to convey something of considerable importance to anyone sufficiently observant to notice. These escalating peculiarities somehow lead to puddle crisps materialising in rather unexpected locations, a prankster called Margaret emerging from the chaos with her own agenda, and an invasion of bunnies that proves rather harder to ignore than one might hope. If that were not quite enough, a violin has apparently fallen under some sort of enchantment, adding a distinctly musical note to the pandemonium.

The children of Class 2R find themselves caught up in a succession of extraordinary events that their textbooks never quite prepared them for. With no clear answers and precious little time to make sense of it all, the class must pool their collective ingenuity and learn to think on their feet if they are to navigate these strange occurrences and perhaps discover what on earth is really going on. In the second volume of Wigglesbottom Primary, chaos meets curiosity, and the most ordinary of classroom dynamics becomes thoroughly, wonderfully extraordinary.
