What happens in the story

Immerse yourself in the heart of Africa with Akimbo and the Elephants,' a riveting audiobook by the acclaimed author Alexander McCall Smith. Set against the stunning backdrop of the African savannah, this compelling tale follows the courageous adventures of ten-year-old Akimbo, who lives on a game preserve where his father serves as the head ranger.

In this thrilling installment, Akimbo faces a threat to the beloved elephants that roam the preserve. Ivory poachers have been killing adult elephants for their tusks, leaving helpless calves to fend for themselves. The situation only gets worse as the authorities struggle to track down the elusive poachers, and the preserve's elephants face a grim future.

Driven by his deep love for the animals, Akimbo takes matters into his own hands. With bravery beyond his years, he devises a daring plan to infiltrate the world of the poachers by posing as one of them. As Akimbo ventures into dangerous territory, he must rely on his wits, resourcefulness, and the support of his friends to navigate the perilous path ahead.
