Leo Tolstoy was born in Russia in 1828, and is regarded as one of greatest authors of all time. A mutilple-time Nobel Prize nominee for both literature and peace, but somewhat controversially never a Nobel Prize winner, he is often lauded for his contributions to realist fiction. His most notable works include War and Peace and Anna Karenina.
