Herman Melville

Herman Melville was a novelist and poet of the American Renaissance, born in the United States in 1819. Despite his works being very well known now, most of his success in writing actually came posthumously with the popularity of the centennial editions of his works. His most notable works include Moby-Dick, Typee, and Billy Budd, Sailor, all of which draw influence from his own time working on ships and his travels.
